What's New With NOA

The NOA Tradition Continues at Gathering VI

From June 29-July 2, a diverse community of organizers came together for NOA's Gathering VI at the National Labor College in Silver Spring, Maryland.  Over 100 organizers came from all over the country, from different backgrounds and organizing traditions, in the NOA tradition of sharing and learning, strategizing and building community.  Keep an eye out for a detailed report from Gathering VI.  In the meantime, check out some of the photos.  If you took photos at the Gathering, please share! Email them to info-at-noacentral.org

Organizer's Survey

Ark Magazine - Fall 2008 will feature a special insert - The Organizers Almanac - Resources By and For Organizers. What are your favorite training materials, films, websites, list serves and technical assistance organizations? What books are you reading? What new materials have you or your organization produced that other organizers should know about? What retreats, sabbaticals or fellowship programs are available to organizers in your state or region? We want to include your recommendations in the fall edition. Please email Windy Cooler-Stith (windy-at-noacentral.org) to share them.

NOA's Organizer Respite Awards are Back!

NOA is now accepting nominations for the 2008-2009 Organizer Respite Awards. The Respite awards honor the tireless organizing efforts & commitment of organizers & movement builders. It is designed to honor those dedicated to organizing as a tool for social change and who strive to create community amongst other organizers. The awards are a chance for two people to each have a week to rest, reflect, renew and/or do something you have been putting off. They can come alone or bring family or a few friends.
